The lovely gardens at The Loom are quite private and often a surprise to visitors.  They are often described as like a secret garden, tucked away as they are behind the house, and off from the rear of the courtyard through a brick and flint arch amply upholstered with ivy, virginia creeper, wisteria and vine.

The main garden, bordered with flower beds and shrubs, is bathed in sunshine* from morning to early evening.  In a corner off to the western boundary a pergola, smothered in russian vine, provides shade from the sun* and a beautiful place to sit, read, or chat with friends, at a table for four.  To the east and rear, behind the barn and fronting the greenhouse, an enclosed, landscaped area under fruit trees provides further sanctuary for writing, reading or peaceful contemplation.

From the recessed private patio and seating area beyond the french doors at the rear of the house, the gardens slope gently upward past the raised, reeded, lily pond to a discreet area more densely populated with trees and bushes, skirted by a pathway, and home to a hidden seated spot for reading or contemplation among the greenery.

And all of this, secluded off the central courtyard, itself behind private gates, right in the centre of the village between the restaurant and village hall and across the meadow from the pub.  Magic.
