“If design isn't good design, it's bad design. Design, good or bad, is not an accident of nature. It is the outcome of human interventions and conscious decision-making. Therefore, there should be no excuse for bad design."

After gaining a Masters in Physics (Opto-Electronics), David went on to study 3-Dimensional (Product) Design at Ravensbourne College of Design & Communication.  Since then, a long, varied and successful career has taken him through the physical sciences, product design, graphic design, moving image, digital media, branding, creative strategy, and creative leadership.

He has led creative teams in areas such as Factual TV, eg., Tomorrow's World and, as Head of Design, played a key role in establishing and developing BBC Online (bbc.co.uk) as a world class service. His work has been recognised internationally with several awards from professional bodies in the industry.

Together with experience communicating creative vision and practice to peer professionals, external companies and creative teams, he has also spent a number of years as External Examiner within design education both in the UK and the Far East.

David monitors conceptual arenas of international debate such as Doors of Perception, TED and the Design Management Institute, and pursues collaborative projects via educational and business links. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society Of Art.
